A creative designer, production artist, dog lover.
I live in Cincinnati with my husband, Corey and our three pups, Jarvis, Freddy, and Winston. I love a great book, a warm summer day and a good ol’ DIY project. For as long as I can remember, I have been creatively driven and particularly organized. While most of my friends and family chose to go into the Medical Field, it only made sense for me to pursue a career where I am able to utilize my creative skills daily. Almost a decade later, there is still nothing more exciting to me than learning and perfecting a new skill.
I began my professional journey in 2014 as a designer at Headsweats, a custom headwear company that, up until recently, catered mostly to endurance athletes. With over 1.000 accounts, we have worked with countless well-known and recognized stores, athletes, teams, and events such as Ironman, Tour de France, The Cincinnati Flying Pig, The Queen Bee, Fleet Feet Stores, Athleta, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, L.L. Bean, and many more. Our primary business is to work one-on-one with customers to create a unique, custom piece of headwear for a team or event. Nearly every single job is working on a very tight and strict deadline. Despite navigating multiple deadlines and event dates simultaneously, custom design is an absolute blast.
In 2018, Headsweats was acquired by a large apparel company, Intradeco, based out of Miami, FL. This has allowed us to offer a wide range of completely customizable apparel to our customers in addition to the headwear that we are originally known for. Though our capabilities and capacity grew tremendously, our team has remained fairly small, allowing every one of us to "wear multiple hats" within the company - see what I did there? From translating a Creative Brief into a series of mock-ups and then to a final tech pack with a CAD and BOM for custom projects, to the months-long seasonal trend research and development to release our newly-curated seasonal collections, to designing a custom in-house library of themed designs and illustrations available to add to your hat or shirt, to working directly with different vendors to find new, on-trend products to use with our garments, to a complete and total brand redesign last year, I have done it all! Additionally, due to my organizational skills and my keen attention to detail, it is my responsibility to review the final design documents before they are sent to production. I manage all of the final artwork files and work closely with the Production Team to maintain consistency and accuracy.
Prior to my current position, I interned with Packaging Corporation of America. To this day, I cannot overstate the value of that experience. In my role at PCA, I worked primarily with the MARS Petcare account, creating 2D artwork for POP displays mainly, but also occasionally product packaging. Within my first week, I knew that I absolutely loved the packaging industry. I will never forget the excitement I felt when I happened to notice a Christmas Edition Temptations Tumbler I had designed, sitting on an endcap at Target. Working with CPG taught me so much and grew even my most basic skills. I learned that I had no choice but to be the most detail-oriented, particular and organized designer I could be. I love the in-depth and hands-on sample process. From laying out the full-scale 2D artwork on a CAD, to creating a photorealistic 3D rendering, to working with the Industrial Design Team to create a full-sized physical sample, that included every single detail, to be shipped to MARS for final approval, I know that I developed skills that I carry with me to this day. Though a short experience, I have no doubt that it paved the way to my success in the apparel industry over the last several years.
